VisionTEK’s FrontLine Mobile Data and Law Enforcement Field Based Report Writing Software is Successfully Deployed by Warren County (Ohio) Public Safety Network
FrontLine is a state-of-the-art mobile data and field based reporting solution proven to enhance public safety efficiency, decrease service response times, and provide secure communications among first responders.
It helps ensure First Responders have the right information, at the right time, when responding to incidents involving public safety.
The WCPSN FrontLine Mobile Data and Field Based Reporting suite has four primary components that help law enforcement personnel better serve and protect the citizens of Warren County: Mobile CAD (Computer Assisted Dispatch) Client, Wants and Warrants, Field Based Reports, and UNITY Messaging. First Responders utilize these tools to help them respond to incidents, share information among other first responders, perform electronic criminal record checks, search public records, quickly create computer generated police reports such as state accident reports, citations, incident reports, and securely send email communications. In short, FrontLine is a First Responder’s computerized partner in the field.
During the annual ‘Devil’s Staircase’ motorcycle hill climb, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office put FrontLine to the test. Sheriff Deputies used FrontLine’s ‘Wants and Warrants’ functions to search law enforcement databases and the Ohio BMV database to validate a subject’s drivers license and vehicle ownership. In two simple steps deputies were able to see a person’s entire BMV record and their police history. If a report was warranted, FrontLine streamlined the process. The reporting Deputy opened a new field based report, imported the data from the ‘Wants and Warrants’ returns, completed the narrative, and then used the application to validate report requirements.
Initial response from WCPSN’s First Responder community to the deployment is very positive.
“The officers in the field are telling us that they love it.,” states Gary Estes, Data Systems Manager. “The FrontLine applications are being adopted by the user community, quickly.”
Benefits to Other Departments
The data integrity and efficiencies that FrontLine provides First Responders is extended to those who support their efforts at the central dispatch center and in the courts.
“One of the really nice things about this system is that field reports are automatically imported into our Records Management System. This helps our records administration staff greatly because it eliminates the need for them to re-key reporting information from a paper report into the RMS, which in turn reduces transcription errors” states Rhonda Bernard, Data Systems Technician.
A Foundation to Build Upon
Though the initial phase of deployment is focused on mining law enforcement data and writing police reports, the strength of the project lies in the system’s ability to grow with the needs of the public safety agencies in Warren County. The FrontLine Mobile Data and Field Based Reporting Software Suite with access to the UNITY Data Sharing network provides an easy means to access shared data among local agencies in Warren County, agencies throughout the state, as well as agencies beyong the state lines of Ohio. Instead of costly integration projects, agencies on the UNITY Data Sharing network can simply choose to allow another agency to access – read only, and within agreed to parameters – their law enforcement records. By doing so, officers will be able to have a complete picture of a subject’s criminal history, and investigators can use such data to forecast criminal activity trending.
Extending this functionality to handheld computers is another feature of the FrontLine Mobile Data and Field Based Reporting suite that can be leveraged to provide law enforcement personnel the data they need, when they need it, where they need it.
