Spartanburg County Emergency 911 selects VisionTEK's Frontline Mobile CAD and UNITY Messaging system.

VisionTEK (www.visiontekinc.com) a provider of mobile data and field-based reporting software for law enforcement announced today the beginning of a successful partnership with the Spartanburg County, South Carolina Communications / 9-1-1 Department, who selected VisionTEK as the preferred vendor of the development and deployment of their new Emergency Medical Services Mobile Data system.

The Spartanburg County Communications / 9-1-1 department provides emergency medical response to the nearly 275,000 citizens of Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The agency employs approximately 70 Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) users, and roughly 1445 service personnel who respond to an average of 351,000 events per year. The dispatch center handles Law, Fire and EMS events.

When deciding on a vendor for their Emergency Medical Services Mobile Data system, the Communications / 9-1-1 Department wanted a vendor who could provide a commercial-off-the-shelf CAD Mobile Data solution, and who would be willing and able to quickly tailor the solution to the specific needs of the emergency medical services personnel. After careful examination of the available solutions, they chose VisionTEK’s FrontLine Mobile Data CAD and UNITY messaging solution.

During an emergency call, there are many pieces of information that must be quickly and succinctly relayed to EMS personnel. For years, dispatch center computer consoles have displayed emergency incident information such as the caller’s name, the injured party’s name and condition and the incident location. This information was conveyed by the dispatcher via radio communications to EMS personnel. Though this has worked well for years, there are times when communication can breakdown and details are lost such as when an ambulance is rushing through traffic and loud environmental noise competes with dispatch radio messages. The FrontLine Mobile CAD client helps alleviate these factors by displaying an incident’s details on easy-to-read display screens so that EMS personnel can reference the incident details while driving to the scene and checking for updates when they arrive.

In short, FrontLine will be an Emergency Medical Service personnel’s computerized partner in the field.
